World Health Day: the importance of healthy eating
World Health Day is celebrated on 7 April each year.
Founded in 1948 by the WHO, the anniversary has the twin objectives of highlighting important topics concerning public health and launching long-term initiatives, encouraging each and every individual citizen to be an active participant in important changes related to this issue.
At Primecook, we are happy to make our contribution, focusing on health from the table: for the wellbeing of the whole family!
World Health Day. When wellbeing starts at the table
"A table, a chair, a basket of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy?" said Albert Einstein.
Once an important point of reference for every family, today the table is often viewed with less dedication, far removed from the sacred ritual it once represented. In fact, the fast pace requires us to cook and eat in a hurry, and we are often forced to resort to processed foods of uncertain composition.
This is an unfortunate and very common situation, with serious repercussions both on relationships within the family unit and on the quality of what is consumed.
It is no surprise that in recent years all the major scientific communities, as well as doctors, paediatricians, trade associations and experts in the field, have devoted a great deal of effort to making people aware of the need to rediscover the beauty of being at the table: it is here that sharing, dialogue and exchange are developed, and the first memories that children and grandchildren will carry with them for the rest of their lives are made.
By giving value to this time of the day, we can return to rediscovering the value of healthy ingredients!
Healthy eating, a priority for all
It is equally important that the quality of the family gathering at the table goes hand in hand with the quality of the food that we choose to consume.
Teaching our children from an early age to appreciate healthy raw materials and low-fat dishes is increasingly a necessity, considering the alarming data on childhood obesity across the world: just consider that Italy is fourth in Europe in this special ranking, with almost 40% of children between 6 and 9 years of age being overweight or obese! (source: Italian Paediatrics Society).
It is also an intriguing challenge for the whole family...
... as it is never too late to review your habits and adjust "your course"
... since with vegetables, fruit, cereals and animal and vegetable proteins we can have endless fun
... because eating healthy is all about feeling healthier and lighter
... because good health starts at the table!

Happy World Health Day to all!
